The App is provided by the operator of “Learning Chinese Characters Made Easy” (“we”, “us”). We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we process, why, how we protect it, and what choices you have.

To provide literacy learning, review, challenges, and multiple child profiles, we may process:

3. On-device storage and networking

Unless required by law or separately agreed with you, the current version does not routinely upload core learning data to our servers and does not require a mandatory cloud account for sync. Please protect your device from unauthorised access.

If future versions add optional cloud sync, accounts, or other online features, we will update this policy or in-product notices and obtain consent where required.

4. Permissions and system features

We may request OS permissions (e.g. storage, network, text-to-speech) only as needed for functionality. The exact permission names and prompts are shown by your device when you install or run the App.

Speech features rely on the system text-to-speech engine and voices you install; some prompts use bundled audio that plays locally when you interact with the App.

5. Cookies (official website)

If you browse our public website, the host or analytics services may use cookies or similar technologies for basic analytics or session management. You can manage cookies in your browser. Client-side App data is stored on your device, not in website cookies.

6. Third-party services

We may use third-party analytics, crash reporting, forms, or hosting providers. They process information only to help us provide those functions and are subject to their own policies. We aim to work with reputable providers.

7. Children

The App is designed for children’s literacy support and may be used by minors. Where local laws require parental consent for processing children’s data (including under age 14 in applicable jurisdictions such as mainland China), we rely on guardians to provide appropriate consent and supervision.

We follow data-minimisation practices and do not knowingly collect sensitive child data unrelated to learning.

9. Location and retention

Learning data in the current version is primarily kept on your device. Information collected through support channels is kept only as long as needed to provide the service. After uninstall, account closure (if offered later), or a valid deletion request, we delete or anonymise data within a reasonable period, unless the law requires retention.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use device passcodes and updates to reduce risk.

11. Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice in the App, on the website, or by other reasonable means. Continued use after the update means you accept the revised policy, except where separate consent is required.

12. Governing law

For users in mainland China, this policy is governed by applicable laws of the Chinese mainland, including the Personal Information Protection Law where relevant. If mandatory local rules in your region conflict, those rules prevail to the extent required.
